The meteorite was found in 1917 when two stones, weighing 14.9 kg and 8.9 kg, were plowed up by a farmer. Later a
total of 27 stones was recovered with a total weight of 53.9 kilograms. They were not recognized as different meteorites
until around 1981 when they realized they had four different falls. The falls where named Tulia a, b. c and d. The stones
were collected by H. Nininger and obtained from him by the Field Museum in Chicago in 1940.
